I wonder why the first and easiest thing I would do is check for fuel getting to the carb, and if not, check for fuel getting to the pump, and if not check for a cracked fuel line sucking air. It seems that I would only need to check the prime to make sure the fuel pump works, but in my case, I'm not even sure there is a prime feature so I'm not sure what this would accomplish for me if nothing happens after 5 seconds. I'll try holding down the stop switch longer to see if it primes, but starting doesn't seem to be the problem. Generator Jim, are you referring to the fuses on the front of the generator start switch panel? There is a flip switch and a fuse plugged in there. It won't start again unless is sits for a while. Generator starts too, but only runs about 5 minutes. The generator still wouldn't start.Īn update: I now have a new coach battery in. I was able to jump start the RV and keep it running while trying to get the generator to start. Regarding the coach battery, it seems that my generator runs from that since trying to start the generator made it so my RV wouldn't start either. And, you helped me figure out mine doesn't have a pump feature because it just says "Start" on the switch, which would explain why there is no reaction when I hold down start. My solenoid is in a slightly different location, but I was able to see my fuel pump hiding down there behind it. Thanks CloudDriver, that picture is worth well over a thousand words. '06 Tiger CX 'C Minus' on a Silverado 2500HD 4x4, 8.1 & Allison (aka 'Loafer's Glory') The engine alternator provides current to both. Whether the generator starts off the engine or house battery (varies from coach to coach), running the 'main' engine while trying to start it will make help sometimes. Our Onan starts off the house batteries, not the chassis battery. If you decide to do this, first disconnect the house or chassis battery so you don't get an arc if a hot wire touches ground. I had to remove the solenoid and control board in order to get at the pump. The fuel filter is the gold thing that looks like part of a ring in the picture. The fuel pump is the silver thing with a label on it that runs diagonally below the white wire. Holding the Stop/Prime side down for a few seconds causes the fuel pump to run to prime the fuel line and carb. On ours, the start/stop switch on the generator is labeled Start on one side and Stop/Prime on the other. Our Onan 4k has a K at the end of the model #, rather than the B in yours. I posted about my failed fuel pump in the previous thread you referred to.

I even tried pressing stop 3 times the previous code and nothing happened. I haven't been able to see any flashing light fail codes after it stops sorry I don't have any information there.

The RV will start but generator still not starting. Could a weak coach battery be causing the generator problem I am describing? I checked the voltage and it is showing 12.6. Now the RV won't start, presumably from running down the coach battery trying to start the generator. Is this a feature on all of these models? If so, does this mean I probably have a fuel pump problem. There is no sound or light when I do this. I read that pressing down (stop) on the button should prime the pump. I've tried starting it from both the inside switch and the switch on the generator. The air filter looks isn't new, but looks fairly clean. I thought I'd found the problem there, but the same things still occurred. I pulled some ripped foam chunks out of places that they shouldn't have been.

No filter has been changed, because there doesn't appear to be an oil filter and the manual makes no mention of it. Oil has been changed and is at the right level. At least that is what it did.now I can't get it to even start. The last few times we used it, it runs for about 10-15 minutes and quits and won't start again until it sits for a while. I'm having some problems that I would like someone familiar with this generator to help with. I'm new to RVing since I bought a used Fourwinds Class C a few months ago.
